JC Carter is the global leader in cryogenic nozzle technology. This distinction is based on JC Carter’s global installed base of 7,000 cryogenic dry coupling systems. These systems operate an estimated 25 million fill cycles per year throughout China, US, Canada, Australia, UK, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Germany, South Korea, Indonesia, and various other countries. This experience is a testament to JC Carter’s ability to perform in various climates and operating conditions. JC Carter’s industry leadership comes from continuous investment in engineering and design so products are unmatched in reliability and customers receive the best product, best service, best support, and best overall experience.
Most present JC Carter applications are in the natural gas vehicle transportation industry including the fueling of heavy trucks and buses. As the use of LNG for fueling moves more to the high capacity industries, JC Carter’s larger dry connect couplings are well positioned to perform in marine, railroad, mining, and power generation applications.
The history of JC Carter began in 1947 when James Coolidge “Cool” Carter, founder of the JC Carter Company, applied his industry expertise to begin building rocket engine fuel pumps. Twelve years later, in 1959, Carter utilized his rocket fuel pump engineering experience to begin designing his first submerged motor pump. In 1961, he introduced the world’s first SMP for the rapidly emerging LNG industry. His SMP technology received much acclaim for its ingenuity and craftsmanship, and established JC Carter as the leader in the industry. For more than 30 years, JC Carter’s first generation pump was the symbol of innovation and craftsmanship in the LNG SMP sectors.
Leveraging JC Carter’s LNG technology and experience, JC Carter designed a nozzle for more commercial applications that insures the minus-260-degree fuel has zero leakage when pumped into vehicles. Its “Ice-Breaker Technology” was again revolutionary and allowed the commercial vehicle fueling to complete in five minutes or less and quickly becoming the standard design for the industry. Today, JC Carter has further improved the design by adding its patented “Freeze-free” technology thus providing the cleanest and safest transfer of cryogenic fuel to vehicles. JC Carter remains the clear leader in the engineering of cryogenic coupling solutions.
